Episode Four - Night People: seize the night from Eric Power on Vimeo.
My first scene in Eric Power’s Night People: Seize the Night starts about 1:20 and concludes about 4:30 into the clip above. If you go to Destroy All Monsters, you can see the first two segments of this film. I think he is putting ten minutes of the film online every week for the next few weeks.
People rarely know when they have changed the trajectory of someone’s life. Some cat named Orion told me to grab some of my records and come to this party after a night at World Beat Cafe. Perfectly content at the time to be a bedroom DJ, things changed for me from that night on. A gig here turned into a gig there turned into more.
I was at Nasty’s one night and Richard Henry wanted to introduce me to this cat Eric Power. Eric was one of the animators on Waking Life. That movie was like my own personal Star Wars. It was mind candy and eye candy. They told me about Night People and asked if I was down. Even though in this film I am spitting some of my Spoken Word Floetry and later telling my infamous Mardi Gras ball story, it woke up something in me. After that I took some acting classes. I started getting into books about acting. I have some other film stuff I have done since then that I am looking forward to seeing it released. Hopefully I will have big news about another project soon.
I doubt they realized it at the time, but getting me into this film impacted my life in a positive way.
You never know when you are gonna change the arc of someone’s life. Be supportive and encouraging with your friends, fam and who have you.
