Okay so my home girl hit me to this last night and I could not believe it. I’m still wavering on the idea anyways but apparently, maybe at their Manchester show on their US tour, Justice is seen in the photo performing, what seems to be well into a set, and you can see that Gaspard, on the left and apparently the half of the production Genius of Justice, with his MPD 24 unplugged. They run ableton of course using the Akai midi trigger to cue samples and what not. What this pictures says (ie not proves) is that Justice is being busted for playing preprogrammed sets. The net says that URB Magazine brought this to their attention and allowed them to explain (and I quote URB quoting Gaspard):

Gaspard offers a reasonable explanation:
“Yeah, shit happens! I remember the story, I couldn’t remember the city but i think it was in Manchester. I didn’t noticed at first, because as you can see I was looking at the computer to launch the next vocal hook and right after I realised that the blue screen went black, so there was no way possible it could work. So I plugged it back in, big deal! And the next thing you know is this picture.”

Now I am a fan of Justice in some capacity. They pretty much pioneered that qwerty pop electro sound and made it okay for acts such as Does It Offend You, Yeah to surface, who I like as well. Disclaimer: When I say pioneered I mean made it profitable again, cause the sound has actually been around for ages (i.e. Roger and Zapp). Regardless of what you think you think you know about setting up a rig like this, what do you think. Have you been to more than one justice show and heard the same set twice? Is this just media hype? These are all questions I still have. Even after I downloaded this picture I blew it up trying to see into it. Is nothing plugged into the mixer either? To give them the benefit of doubt I saw them at Coachella and regardless if the shit was preprogrammed or not they had thousands of people jumping in the air. Maybe everyones hating on them cause they’re doing less work for more pay.
